Aruna Ratanagiri: Harnham Buddhist Monastery is a traditional Theravada Buddhist community on the border of England and Scotland. The abbot, Ajahn Munindo, received bhikkhu precepts from the late Venerable Ajahn Chah of Wat Nong Pah Pong in North-East Thailand in 1976.


This Forest Sangha website serves as a portal to an association of branch monasteries of Wat Pah Pong in NE Thailand. This worldwide community of monasteries grew out of the first generation of Western disciples of Venerable Ajahn Chah; the website aims to support the free distribution of teachings from this tradition.


Wat Pah Nanachat, the International Forest Monastery, was established by Luang Por Sumedho in 1975 under Venerable Ajahn Chah's guidance to provide English-speaking people the opportunity to practice and train to become Buddhist monks in the way of the Thai Forest Tradition. It is within walking distance to Wat Nong Pah Pong, close to the village of Bahn Bung Wai in Northeast Thailand. The present abbot is Ajahn Kevalī.
